Sylvia Close Right to Manage Co. Ltd
The Requirement
Sylvia Close Right to Manage Company is a small estate management company formed in January 2009 to manage 48 flats with a communal heating system. It had a couple of large projects – transitioning the day to day management from the previous incumbent and delivering a new communal heating system in the same year.

Communication with the leaseholders was very important,in order to ensure the leaseholders remained happy with the proposed solutions. For this to occur,email and a website that allowed leaseholders to view project updates and download documents relating to the take over was required.
The directors also felt that security was an important feature,where they could have confidence in knowing that email and legal documents generated were stored in a secure on site manner.
The Solution
Smart Box of Tricks Ltd was chosen as it understood the needs of the management company and was able to deliver against them in a short period of time. SBOT managed the selection and hosting of the domain name,www.scrtm.com,and installed an S-BoT 1 at one of the director’s offices,using their existing broadband connection.

One of the directors of SCRTM happened to be a webdesigner. Once the web design was complete,the website was transferred via FTP to the server. As a consequence this meant that additional hosting charges could be avoided. They also appreciated the fact that the email and fileshare could work with Mac as well as Windows.
An additional shared folder was created where there is a central shared repository that all Directors have access in a secure way,even if they work remotely.
Finally,with the email,the directors had different preferences. One of them liked the ease of use and access of Webmail and uses that as the main tool. Another had several email accounts for his different businesses all on an existing Microsoft Outlook email application. The S-BOT server was configured so that email could be delivered to Microsoft Outlook. All the directors work remotely yet can still access email and documents.
